10 Ways to Green Your Life

1. Change a bulb. If every American family replaced just one incandescent light bulb with an energy-saving compact fluorescent one, CO2 emissions would drop by more then 90 billion pounds-the same as taking 7.5 million cars off the road.

2. Review your ride – consider carpooling to work, drive moderate speeds, and keep your vehicle tuned.

3. Bring your own – bag that is. The answer to paper or plastic is neither! Both gobble up natural resources and cause pollution. Get in the habit of bringing your own cloth bags to shop.

4. Keep adapters for cell phones and iPods unplugged when not in use. Adapters that come with rechargeable electronics keep drawing energy even when the electronics are charged.

5. Don’t waste water. Fix leaky faucets, time your showers to fewer than 5 minutes which saves up to 1000 gallons of water per month, and only operating washers and dishwashers when you have a full load will go a long way to saving water.

6. Buy recycled and save trees!

7. Reuse when you can. Buy a metal water bottle and bring it with you everywhere. Buy rechargeable batteries and a charger; and use containers for food storage in place of disposable bags.

8. Buy organic. Organic foods have no pesticides and less pollution was created in the transport of those foods to your grocery store or farmers market.

9. Bio clean. Choose biodegradable cleaners that don’t contain harmful chemicals…

10. Recycle Everything!
