Scientists are saying that hitting the big 100 is a real possibility for many of us. Are you ready? The longevity odds for the average 40 year old American woman to make it to age 100 are 8%. However, to age 85 is 62%. If you are 40 today in 2008, you will need over 5 million dollars in today’s dollars to make it to 100, assuming you need $75,000 per year to live. You need 2.5 million if you are going to make it to age 85

How do we know how long we really will live? We don’t but the more we women need to continue to take care of ourselves and find ways to not run out of money and not lose our health or our mental abilities, (a real worry if you ask me)—all daunting tasks, some of which we have no control.

What we need to do is put all of the pieces in place today to help us manage the daunting tasks of tomorrow. Women make great planners, let’s start taking care of our financial, physical and emotional well being today!
